Xbox Kinect - What will it cost?

Well the Microsoft Wii... er I mean Kinect is nearly here and we already have the new slim Xbox 360 in the shops, but what if you want both? How much will it cost ya? Before you rush out and blow your wad on the new Xbox slim now, it might be wiser to wait till the bundle comes out... if you are into the whole Kinect thing that is.

The word from Microsoft is that Kinect on its own will launch in the USA for £150, in the UK for £129 and Europe in general for €149. (For us Irish that doesn't include the usual 'Paddy Tax' that rip off Ireland is famous for adding to all products, so we shall see what that will pump up the price to!) This will also include a game, that one where ya jump around on the inflatable raft like a retard on speed...
What is being marketed as the Xbox 4GB model (no mention of the HD) and Kinect bundle, plus the retard game, is said to be $300 in the USA - £250 in the UK - €250 in Europe. Which is interesting because currently the new Xbox is already €250, without Kinect. Or is that just the old Paddy Tax at play...Hmmm.

So, bottom line is... wait and see what happens when Kinect and the bundles are released in November! In the meantime you can always dust off your Wii and prepare for Kinect... or get the cheaper PS3 'Move' setup in September... or just play some real games and ignore all this motion gaming crap. What is it all coming too, eh!?

Splinter Cell: Conviction to be bundled with a 250GB Xbox 360.

Splinter Cell: Conviction will be the next game bundled with a 250GB Xbox 360.

Xbox Live's "Major Nelson" revealed the 'Super Elite' Bundle on his blog.

The "Xbox 360 Splinter Cell: Conviction Special Edition Bundle" will cost $399 (no prices for Ireland as yet - but expect a wholly unfair price point) and will be available in early April. Inside are a standard copy of the game, two wireless pads and a large capacity 250 GB hard drive.

There is no customised case as seen with previous game tie-ins (Halo, MW2, etc.), and there's still no sign of a standalone 250GB HD for sale.

Splinter Cell: Conviction will be released for PC and Xbox 360 on 16th April.

250GB PlayStation 3 slim Uncharted 2 bundle leaked?

Hot on the heels of the 250GB Xbox 360 announcement comes, courtesy of engadget, rumours of a PlayStation 3 slim bundle for Uncharted 2 that happens to have a 250GB hard drive. They reckon, if true, it could hit stores in mid-October alongside Uncharted 2. SCEA have denied the photo and said that there's no bundles being planned for America, but that the rep can't speak for other regions (e.g. Europe, Japan). Go Europe!

Update: Joystiq points us to this rumor from last week that Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed II, and Gran Turismo 5 bundles are possibly slated for the UK in October for £299 STG (probably €350 in Ireland - no doubt we'll be pissed on once again despite the favourable Sterling - Euro exchange rate).
