Deus Ex 3 - A new Trailer Vid... With wings!

Well... after our last report on this I said that we were looking forward to seeing some boozing and some chicks, this is not quite what I meant... The newest Deus EX 3 trailer doesn't show very much in terms of what's to expect (though nicely done) but it does seem to indicate a 'divinity' about the story line. It reminds me a little of another game we all know and love, the one about Assassins... similar flavour, that's all I'm saying!

Sony Move... Let's get Physical... again.

Following on from Exciting Alien's news flash on the GDC announced PS3 'Move', is the official promo advert for this 'new' system... Also below is some footage from the actual GDC of dudes playin' the Move courtesy of Kotaku. There is a boxing game, shooter game, 'Move Party' and a beat'em up, all in early development. It's not the Wii... honest! The big colourful balls on the controllers are the giveaway. Is it just me or does 'Move' sound like a shitty name? Wouldn't 'Blades' or 'Power Tool' have been better? Least it's not called 'The Pleasure Stick' eh!? What would you have named it? Leave a comment below to give us all a good laugh!

GDC 10: Sony's Motion Controller Named - 'Move'

At its press conference at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Sony officially announced the name of its new motion control system: Move. It had previously been referred to as the Arc, the Wand, Gem and the Vibrator*.

"The Move is fast precise and accurate. From the tiniest twist to the strongest punch, you can express yourself. This is the next generation of motion gaming," said Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing and the PlayStation Network. "Nothing has been this precise."

The demonstration showed the Move being used with 'Motion Fighters' (a Fight Club-esque fighting game), an archery game, table tennis, a golf game (likely Tiger Woods), a sword combat game ('Gladiator Duel') & an art game. They also demo'd 'Move Party!', 'EyePet' & 'LittleBigPlanet' using the device.

Sony also announced that an accessory called the Move Subcontroller will also be available for the system. It will allow you to play shooters like SOCOM 4 with two motion controllers. The main Move unit handles aiming and shooting, while the Subcontroller handles movement and other functionality. Sony showed a demo of SOCOM 4 in action, using the two-controller setup.

The system uses the PlayStation Eye, the Move wand and the PS3 itself to register player movements and translate them into on-screen actions. Dille said Sony plans to launch the system this fall. A bundle will be available that includes the Move controller, the PlayStation Eye and an unnamed game. The starter kit, which has the PS Eye, the PlayStation Move and some sort of game will be less than $100 (~€73).

You can check out more images & videos of the Move and its games here. We'll have more updates from GDC 10 as they happen.

* May not have been referred to as the 'Vibrator'... but definitely should be known as the 'Dille-doh'. *snigger*

Rock Band 3 Announced

Today, Harmonix announced that it is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this 'holiday season' (that's December to us - not Majorca in July as it would suggest). The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will alledgedly
"Innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band."
Hmm... not sure how 'The Beatles: Rock Band' revolutionised the music genre. Beautiful & lovingly put together - yes, but revolutionary? I seriously hope they don't go down the 'teaches you how to play real guitar' route as suggested by Dhani Harrison - son of former Beatle George Harrison, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. He said,
"I'm working on 'Rock Band 3' and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game. Give me a couple years, it's going to happen."
I hope not. Sometimes you just want to create a game that anyone can get into and just have escapist fun, and not feel like they're in Rock School. If I wanted to learn how to play real guitar I would have taken 'real' guitar lessons by now.

In other music instrument based videogame related news, music industry-born publisher/developer Seven45 Studios is to 'evolve the band game genre with a new game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that uses a real six string guitar as controller'. It'll be called 'Power Gig: Rise of the SixString', and as they said, will feature a real 6 string guitar as the controller.

The guitar features Seven45’s proprietary technology that can distinguish and recognise gamers’ input all along the guitar, "making the guitars as easy to pick up and play as any other band game button controllers". They also include all the guts of an electric guitar so players can plug their SixString guitars into any standard amp to jam with their friends.

Power Gig: Rise of the SixString will be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this Autumn. So I'll guess we'll see if going the 'authentic' route will be a success soon enough. For an in-depth preview of the game and a hands-on preview of the controller head over to engadget.

Holy Bird S**t Batman

Some details are beginning to emerge concerning the much anticipated follow up to Rocksteadys awesome Batman: Arkham Asylum.

A recent listing made on IMDB has confirmed the brilliant Mark Hamill will be back as the voice of 'The Joker' and actor Bruce Greenwood will be schizo-voicing 'Two Face'. So far, so good I hear you say? Well not so fast.....

It seems that Batmans irksome sidekick Robin (is he on Twitter?) has been on to his agent, demanding a turn, and by all accounts it's paid off. The controversial and historically divisive character has been included on the listing, allegedly voiced by Vincent Martella of Final Fantasy XVIII fame.

The news/rumor is sure to start a bit 'o' debate around the place so it's important to remember nothing has been confirmed at this early stage with a rep from Warner Bros. telling Kotaku: "To our knowledge, what you asked about is inaccurate information. We are not yet discussing details for the sequel."

We'll have more on this next time. Same Reaper time, same Reaper Cha... you get the gist.

So what do you think? Are you Team Robin? Let us know below....
