VGA 2010 - Spike TV - And the winner is...

Miss the Spike TV VGA 2010 awards and all those lovely trailer reveals... well fear not. Below are the results and will will have the teasers in our next post for your mental masturbation pleasure. Batman Arkham City Teaser Trailer

The highly anticipated Batman Arkham City is heading for a fall 2011 release date. To coincide with that announcement a quick, and I mean quick thirty-four second trailer has been released showing bats kicking the crap out of a Sam Fisher lookalike. But fear not my little caped crusaders the REAL teaser, will happen during the SpikeTV VGA’s (Video Game Awards) December eleventh at eight pm et and five pm pt. Hopefully it will contain some actual gameplay, but either way it’s going to be something special.

Uncharted 3 Announced!!! - Drake’s Deception

Well peeps, its been real quiet lately and there has been very little in the way of truly important game news around, but here is one tid-bit of info that will have you hopping for joy... Uncharted 3 has been confirmed for 2011, perhaps it is no shock but it nice to be certain of such things. It will be developed again by Naughty Dog and is titled 'Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception'. The guts of the tale will bring Drake to more lost cities with a middle eastern flavour and the narrative will focus on his relationship with Sully, apparently. For a full rundown on this scoop head over here to EW.com There is also a lil preview vid below, not much of a reveal but it sets the tone. A release date will be revealed along with the proper trailer on the Spike TV VGA's later this week - Dec 11 (2010). The offical sony site also has the marketing speel on what to expect, so check it out here. Apparently you will be able to play it in 3D... hmmm. In the meantime, get out your sweaty shorts and pack some sun block cos judging from the screenshots below its gonna be a long dry trip!

The Walking Dead - Online Game... its pretty good!

Wanna play a game with Zombies in it? Great, cos theres loads of games featuring the meandering, maggot ridden shitbags at the moment... but here's one that is free and will run in your browser window. Its 'The Walking Dead' online game, yep the one from the Graphic novel turned TV show. Its actually not bad, so jump on over to The Walking Dead website link here and check it out for yourselves! Its a bit like the 'sims', but with zombies in it... Not much of a leap really.

Splatterhouse trailer. Let the Bodies hit the Floor!!

This looks like a total Z list game and I bet it will be pretty crap, who cares!! Its Splatterhouse and it will have the old arcade games rolled in with it. Hopefully it will be better than expected but at least the novelty of ripping off a baddies arm and beating him to death with it will give one a sense of zen, for that alone it should be worth a go!

DiRT 3 Developer Q&A

Although living in the murky realms of 2011, make no mistake Dirt3 is coming,and coming like an out of control freight train going sideways on gravel. Moreover, by telling us that sixty percent of the game play will be based on rally stages just makes me want to make sure I’m on that train. The game will also include Gymkhana, which should be a blast going around Monaco and L.A's coliseum in a rally car..

Kinect Launch Ireland & Initial Impressions

Some of the Reaper Gaming team recently attended the Kinect Launch in Dublin. Much fun was had by the Reaper crew (a little too much free alcohol fun for one ExcitingAlien). Being the shy basement dwelling types, we decided to just watch other people make fools of themselves and flay about like mentalists on fire. However, we did get to try out some of the Kinect launch titles, which even the hardest of hardcore gamers would have trouble denying that they're fun to play. Only time will tell whether it turns out to be a gimmick, or whether it'll actually fulfil its potential of being something truly immersive.

Below are some photos from the night. Notable attendees included Fight Like Apes, Steven Cooper (98fm), Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Gary Brennan (RTÉ's FourLive) and 'the guy with the hair from the thing that used to be the Den'. A big 'shout out' to 'Pockets' of FLA - a true retrogamer, Piaras and David at Edelman for inviting us, and our friends at Average Film Reviews & TechTV101.

LA Noir - Finally, a trailer...

Well, Rockstar promised us the trailer for LA Noir today and they delivered! Check it out below. Looks pretty good, although theres not really allot to judge it on. Love the concept and the music sets the tone... Ooo the drama! They even have the token Irish cop, Be-gorra! Bet theres a bunch of Irish drunks in it too... Arg! Looking forward to this one and with Rockstar at the helm its hard to see how ithe game could be crap, right? - Spring 2011 is the date for now.

Sony PS3 TV ads - WTF!!!

Aghhhh!!! Its a giant baby!! Sweet Jesus, someone call a doctor, that kid must have a massive tumour. If I saw him walking towards me I would run away in terror... not smile at that mutated cranium! Judging by the second video this condition is spreading... Shoot on sight I say, it would be impossible to miss a headshot... Time for some Left 4 Head methinks! PS3 TV commercials are so... odd.

Free COD clothing for the ladies!

We have it on good authority that any Lady Avatars on the Xbox 360 can get two pieces of clothing for Call of Duty Black Ops, totally free... the 'SR 71 Flight Suit' and the 'Woods Outfit'. The reason for this is cos Activision gave free codes to people who bought the special editions and pre-orders but forgot to include chicks in all of it... how sexist! Anyway, 'shut up and tell us the free codes you pleb' I hear you scream... Oh, ok then, here they are:

COD - Black Ops - Ice T, Floating Apples and a good Review!

OK, its out! The most talked about game of the year has hit our screens and the carnage will now commence. To celebrate we have three nice vids for you below. The first is Ice T unpacking the 'Prestige' edition, where he also shares his xbox call sign, followed by the Game Trailers video review which has a few surprises in it (like a hidden mini game) and lastly is the first glitch to appear in COD BO... is it a noob tube glitch? Or perhaps an immunity glitch? Well, ya will just have to watch the video to find out, how do ya like them apples!? Overall it looks like Treyarch have laid to rest any doubts that they couldn't pull of a 'Modern Warfare' type game, which is good for us gamers, plus they added zombies! So, happy fragging fraggers, and as Ice T might say - 'see ya online, Motherf**kers!'

Half Life Movie - Super Cool!!!

There have been lots of attempts to do a Half Life movie by independent film makers and so far they have been pretty good, here is another one - 'Beyond Black Mesa'. It also looks brill, if perhaps a lil rough on the acting. It was done on a budget of $1,200, over two years. That's pretty good going and with it gaining notice at film festivals this could end up in the cinema... Yay! Just keep the Hollywood fat cats away from it all!!

Rock Band 3 Squier Stratocaster Priced & Dated

Just gotten Rock Band 3, but that plastic guitar with it's 5 coloured buttons just isn't challenging you enough anymore? Or have you decided you want to be a real guitarist, but don't want to pay exorbitant guitar lesson fees? Well then the wait for you will soon be over (...by soon we mean the 1st of March 2011).

The 'Squier by Fender Stratocaster Guitar and Controller' is a full-size electric guitar made from Fender components, including a contoured wood body, 22-fret maple neck, steel strings, enclosed tuners, adjustable bridge and custom bridge pickup. It takes advantage of the new guitar 'Pro Mode' in Rock Band 3, whereby you have to play the notes using the strings & frets combination, just like real guitar.

Away from Rock Band 3, you can use it as a real guitar by plugging it into a guitar amplifier, or use as a MIDI controller in your home recording studio. You can even use it with your video game console and amp at the same time, to really piss the neighbours off.

As mentioned earlier, the release date for the guitar is stated as being 01 March 2011, with pre-ordering from 01 January 2011, but it doesn't mention if these dates are US specific or a general worldwide time-frame. The RRP for the US is $279.99 (around €200), and it requires the Mad Catz Midi Pro Adaptor (sold separately), which may seem expensive, but when you consider what you are getting and the amount of technology & components involved, and if it works as well as they claim it will, then it's quite reasonable in my opinion.

Not really into the whole portable gaming personally but this looks like it could be fun for more than five minuets, check out the vid below to see just how clever this lil game is. Shoot Tie fighters down in your surrounding environment, class eh! Wonder if it work with loads of naked chicks as a background... hmm, only one way to find out eh!

Gamers - Time to take on the Terminator and save the Games industry!

We posted awhile ago about what the government in California is trying to do to the games industry. It will soon be legal to buy weed in the big C but you can go to prison for selling games to minors... genius eh. As we pointed out before, if California gets hit with this restriction it will influence the game companies to stay away from making mature type games, so kiss goodbye to GTA5!

Its only one state you say! Yes, but what happens on the West coast of the USA spreads to the East pretty quickly and then to the rest of the globe, just look at the 'Smoking Ban'. Freedom my ass!!!

It pains me to say this but it looks like one of my Hero's is partially to blame for allot of this - Oi Arnie - get your ass to mars! Cos your starting to piss us off here on earth. That right, the Terminator is on the case, and is responsible for appealing this with the Supreme Court, which is disappointing, as you would imagine he might be on our side... but hes not! Call of Duty - Black Ops - Maps, Killstreak, Ice Cube and Cucumbers!

Wanna know what goodies are gonna be in COD BO? And no, I don't mean the fishy smell, I mean the game! Then here is a lil peak at some screen shots that reveal the multi player bits Below - (thanks to Kotaku).

First image is the maps, they all look fairly standard names for a map... except 'Nuke Town' perhaps... Is that where Duke lives maybe? Ops, wrong game.

The second image is some of the kill streaks which seem to include Dogs, Napalm and sheep bombs!! No, just kidding about the sheep, thought I was looking at the load out for 'Worms' there for a sec... wrong game eh!

It is said that Ice Cube, yep the rapper, is said to be doing voice overs in the game... I bet Ice T will be pissed!! I suddenly feel like a cold drink after that. Anyway the other lil bit of news on this is that players will be able to make their own game types in the multi player and it wont have to rely on the Honour system to be played. Great, I want a cucumber on cucumber fight! Arg... wrong game again!

Dragon Age 2 - Rise To Power trailer - Get on ur boots!

More Dragon Age 2 stuff, yay! It's not coming for awhile but it is still nice to see the progress. This nice trailer sets up the whole atmosphere side quite well, although its all a bit 'Gladiator' sounding, which isn't too bad I guess. Bet he gets laid allot... being the champion and all - just saying...

Halo Reach - Noble Map pack Trailer

Getting sick of Halo Reach already? Feeling a bit bored with the map rotation? Tired of all the assholes online? Well this should fix two of the three problems... Check out the Noble Map pack trailer below, they do look quite good to play and hopefully it will kill the boring old selection that dummies keep voting for online. As for the Asshole players the only solution to them remains the mute and kick buttons, make sure to use them often! Noble map pack is out November 30th on Xbox Live.

Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare - OUT NOW!

Guess what day it is today... That's right! Its Red Dead Nightmare day! The DLC is now available to download on Xbox Live and PSN (for a price). Check out the launch trailer below, and watch out for Bigfoot! Also, Rockstar have announced that in their latest general update to RDR they have included a 'Friendly Free Roam' mode where players wont have to worry about pesky assholes poppin a cap in their back while your trying to explore as PvP is disabled. Its one of those things that ya think - why wasn't there to begin with? Anyway its there now, have fun undead yella-bellies!

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Police Cars and Helicopters

Here are two new trailers showing some of the machinery the boys in blue will have at their disposal in the upcoming EA/Criterion Need For Speed racer. With Lamborghinis and Bugattis as interceptor cars these guys are not messing about. The Demo will be available to download on October 26th for the xbox 360 and on the PS3 with the game set for a release date of November 16th.

Personally I would run like hell but in Red Dead you will have to BBQ zombies or douse them in holy water... oh and of course theres shotguns and dynamite as optional extras! As yes, I remember being a young man playing the first MK with friends many years ago, the drinking, the slagging, the sore thumbs... those were the days! Although we pretty much have done that with different games over the last two decades anyway, but still... ya cant beat nostalgia. Well now its back and is coming to a realm near you, we just don't know when. Check out one of my favourite characters to play as - Scorpion. I like his big chain... oops pardon!

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - The Story Vid

Nice bit of atmosphere building in this new trailer for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. I know its all been about the multi player so far but personally I'm looking forward to the single story mode and it is looking pretty good I recon. Its out next month so get ready to sharpen the blades and kill some pedo's, the Assassin's are coming!

Gamer Expo - Date Postponed - Doh!!

We have some bad news boys and girls, The Gamer Expo that was set to take place over the October weekend in Dublin, Ireland, has been postponed due to a technical hitch. Our sympathies go out to the lads organising it! On a more pleasant note, we have been assured that the Expo will have a new date, possibly early on in the new year! We imagine that it will give the Expo even more time to add more great features to its line up, so perhaps it will be for the better in the long run. If you have bought tickets to the event the lads will honour this, just get in touch with them. You can see the official line below. We will of course let you know any new info on the event and a new date as soon as we hear it. Looks like the Reaper Crew will have to host our own little Halloween gaming party and put on something scary, for us that means dressing up like normal people while talking about politics and other 'mature' type shit!
