Xbox 360 to support USB flash memory

From the 6th of April, Xbox 360 owners will be able to use USB flash drives of between 1 -16GB to store profiles, game saves, demos and "more", Microsoft announced this morning. Xbox Live's Major Nelson said this:

"Once you take the system update on April 6th, you’ll be able to connect your USB flash drives to your console and head over to the memory section to configure your new storage device. You will then be able to configure how much storage to use on the device, up to 16 GB. The remaining space on the flash drive will be accessible by your PC or Mac."

He also goes on to say that USB hard drives will probably be supported, but will have the same 16GB limitation. They would suffer from slower performance compared to flash based media. You can have 2 devices connected to the console at a time, enabling up to 32GB of simultaneous storage.

We're cautiously optimistic about this news. It flies in the face of Microsoft's previous attempt at disallowing unofficial storage devices (see our earlier article). The 16GB limitation is understandable - they don't want to provide competition to their own 120GB (and upcoming 250GB) standalone hard drives.

They obviously had to listen to the growing discontent of Xbox users being forced to purchase Microsoft's own over-priced memory units. So thumbs up to Microsoft for doing something good for consumers.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Live action Movies coming!

Holy Shit... Ubisoft have done it again. No, they haven't messed up peoples PC's again, though it could happen... This is of a positive note. They are releasing a series of real Live action movies for the new Ghost Recon game in a similar way as they did with Assassins Creed 2. Below is a trailer for this from IGN and it looks pretty kick ass!! First part looks a lil like Half Life 2 the rest is G.I. Joe on steroids... Enjoy.

Modern Warfare 2 - 'Mapathy' TV ad.

More Modern Warfare 2 Map info for ya. The campaign run by Infinity Ward is all to do with "Mapathy". There is even an official site set up for it where you can take the quiz to see if you are a suffer of this terrible blight. 'Mapathy' is defined as:MORE MONEY THAN BRAINS!!! (Not the official interpretation, just mine). Actually the real definition is at the start of the vid below. There also a rumour from Xbox Blips that the Battlefield Bad Company 2 maps are coming soon and intend to use a similar add campaign... except their maps will be free. Score EA: 1 / Activision: -1

Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package Trailer

Sick of the same old MW2 maps? No problem, the stimulus pack is coming by the end of the month and all you have to do is pay 1200 msp on Xbox... ehrem' RIP OFF eherm'. The pack will contain three new maps (Bailout, Storm & Salvage) and two re-hashed ones from the original Modern Warfare (Crash & Overgrown). I love the idea of new maps but I think this takes DLC 'rip offs' to the extreme. For that price you would expect a new single player episode, some new achievements and the maps, Right?! Thing is everyone will probably shell out for this regardless and it sets a benchmark for other developers to follow... They have us by the balls and are tightening the grip, somethings got give. Well done to all the winners at this year's star studded BAFTA Awards, glad to see FIFA 10, Uncharted and especially Batman Arkham Asylum get some of the top awards and also to see Mario creator and all round Mr Nintendo 'Shigeru Miyamoto' get a special lifetime award. Dirty stuff lands on Xbox in Ireland... that's not DLC!!

It's not bad enough that here in Ireland the clergy are all in the firing line for fiddling with kiddies' bits, now it seems that games are getting dragged into the mess too... Arg! WTF Ireland!! Apparently a couple in Dublin were treated to some dirty child porno pics on their Xbox! Yuk! The Herald is reporting that the couple received unsavoury images of young boys from the waste down within a message from another user...

The couple obviously dont want to be identified but the lady of the two, going under the name of 'Amy' said: "I thought it was a horrible picture to see, so I got the guards involved. I explained the situation and they sent out two gardaí to the house to have a look at it." The Gardaí (our Irish Cops) said that if they had of been caught with the dirty paedo porn without reporting it then they would have been up the shitter with no paddle (not a quote).

As it stands the Gardaí and Microsoft are looking into the situation and have confiscated the poor couple's console... which must really suck! Hopefully they catch the sicko behind this and string him up by his short and curlies...'tis crazy times we live in! Do priests play Xbox I wonder? Hmm...
