E3 - Let the madness begin!!

All seasoned gamers know what 'E3' is because its where we get our first real taste of the goody games to come and quite often 'surprise' announcements are revealed. Its like a gamer Christmas... in the summer... with lots of weirdos doing Cos Play. As a lil run up to the event we thought that you guys and gals would like to see just a few of the hyped games that are set to strip off and run naked at the event so check out the vids below.

Don't forget E3 kicks off for June 6th and will be covered across all gaming news sites. Personally I recommend the following to watch it on - Epic Battle Axe - Giant Bomb - G4TV - and Gametrailers.com. Also, Spike TV will be covering the event in a more 'exclusive' manner. Of course we will also be doing our best to bring you the highlights. God, I love games!!

Call Of Duty - The Subscription! Eeek!

Modern Warfare 3 is on its way but with it will be coming Activisions latest attempt to get their greedy mits on your dosh. COD Elite will be the new Free service that gives COD fans and fruit baskets access to an overwhelming amount of stats and if you are a monthly paid subscriber you will get extra stats and DLC at a reduced price. It will tie in with all COD games from Black Ops on into the future for all platforms. Now, its important to understand that this wont conflict with the normal bought in the shop game, it is a extra not a necessity... at least not yet. I can see how this would appeal to Call of Duty fans but for anyone who just likes these games but isn't an exclusive type of player it might be much a do about nothing. Gears of War 3 - Gameplay trailer - Brothers to the End...

Its short, its sweet and it rocks like a war pig! This is one of the first campaign trailers for Gears of War 3 which had its premier showing during some footie match, eh whats it called, oh yeah 'The Champions league' final... Of course trying to watch this in a pub full of beer filled, testosterone boosted football hooligans is a bit difficult, so here it is in a peaceful and quiet setting... hangover pills not included.

Another expansion for the interactive dollhouse that is The Sims 3 is on the horizon, this one is suppose to give your Sims a richer life experience. For your kiddy-wink-sims you’ll be able to dress-up as dinosaurs, fairies and alike, play in tree houses and generally be mean to each other if the trailer is anything to go by. You can also relive the drama of your own teenage years, (although Lord knows why you would want to do that, I seem to have spent most of mine lying on my bed hating everyone and listening to The Smiths, although that hasn’t changed much now I’m an adult come to think of it) with the possibility to play pranks and graduate from high school. The adults don’t get left out either, you can engage in gossip with others about who is engaging in relational fornication with who. I am sure fans of The Sims series will be looking forward to this one and hoping its not just another opportunity for EA to get them to part with hard earned reddies.

Assassin's Creed Revelations - New Teaser Trailer

Its not long now before E3 will be upon us and as always the rumour mill is spinning with gusto, normally this causes at least a handful of developers to crumble under the pressure and give us a glimpse at what they are going to announce. Today Ubisoft has released a teaser trailer for their latest release in the Assassin's Creed line which will be the last title focusing on the the trials and tribulations of Ezio Auditore da Firenze, who to be fair has not had an easy life, family bumped off here and there, the love of his life jibbing him and falling from enough high structures to guarantee more than a scrapped knee, to be honest if I'd had to endure all these shenanigans I think I'd have become an assassin.

It is expected that we'll get so see some game play footage come E3 or if not at least another full length trailer, but even this little video has already gotten us drooling like people who have to ride on those "special" buses.

Dublin teen responsible for Modern Warfare 2 hack; gets support from Microsoft

According to Herald.ie, a 14-year-old from Tallaght, Dublin was responsible for millions of computer users being alerted after the popular online game Modern Warfare 2 was hacked. The Dublin schoolboy caused a worldwide alert when he attempted to hack into Microsoft Xbox Live system. Microsoft feared that sensitive information about their customers was in danger of being compromised.

Microsoft has come up with a unique way of handling the situation. General manager of Microsoft in Ireland Paul Rellis said that Microsoft "is working with the teenager to develop his talent and help him use his skills for legitimate purposes".

Well it's certainly a different approach to Sony's 'throw 10,000 lawsuits at the wall and see what sticks' methodology.

Dead Island - Gameplay walkthrough.

The walking shit-bags are back in Dead Island, which is looking like a little bit of 'Dead Rising', a bit of 'Left 4 Dead' and a splash of 'Fallout 3' - all of which are cracking good games! If this romp through zombieland is half as good as it looks from the video below (via G4TV) then I recon I might as well lock myself away for at least a week with the game and some supplies - smokes, booze, snacks - you know, the bare essentials! If it really is that good then I might play it till the propper zombie Apocalypse is upon us... Wha?! It could happen!! I'll be well trained for it when it does... er, I mean - IF!

Bioshock Infinite - New Screenshots

As the run up to E3 picks up pace, the good folks at Irrational Games and 2K Games have given us a further sneak-peak into the third installment of the Bioshock series, Bioshock Infinite. Previously known as Project Icarus, the game will take place in the same universe as seen in the first two games, yet this title is neither a direct sequel nor prequel and rather than finding ourselves in Rapture we'll be taking control of a former member of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, who is in search of a young woman name Elizabeth, on the floating city of Columbia.

With some fans being left a little disappointed with Bioshock 2, here's hoping that a trip outside of Rapture will bring a refreshing new outlook to the series.

Yakuza 4; PS3 at Amazon UK

How do you like your Japan? Personally I like it with a slab of crime and more than a dash of marshal arts, which means Yakuza 4 is perfect. An open world title, that’s a cross between GTA and Street Fighter, with enough RPG elements to keep you interested as you immerse yourself into the Japanese underworld. If this is your first foray into the Yakuza games you don’t have to worry about missing out on any of the plot from the first three releases as you get a recap at the start. As we have come to expect from releases from the Far East, there is quite a bit of dialog and cut scenes, but these only help to pull you deeper into the rich storyline. There are a couple of things that may put you off, the dialogue is in Japanese (so you’ll need your reading glasses for the subtitles) and graphically, with the exception of the cut scenes, it’s a bit weak. Your getting a hell of a lot of bang for your buck here though, with hours, if not days worth of playtime.

Microsoft to Replace 360's Damaged by Firmware Update

Microsoft have confirmed they are to replace, free of charge, all 360's that have been damaged by their latest firmware update. The update is intented to expand the amount of data that can be read and carried on new discs appearing soon, however some console owners have found that they are unable to play games since this latest bit of tinkering, recieving error messages informing them that current discs are unreadable or incompatable.

In a statement to Eurogamer a Microsoft representitive said:

"Following a recent update to our system software, we have become aware of an issue that is preventing a very small number of Xbox 360 owners from playing retail game discs. This issue manifests itself a as a unique 'disc unreadable' or 'disc unsupported' error on the screen. We are also able to detect this issue over Xbox Live and are proactively reaching out to customers that may be impacted to replace their console."

Curiouser and Curiouser - Alice: Madness Returns New Story Trailer

Things are not going well for Alice it appears, it seems her previous journeys into Wonderland have fried her brain box somewhat or perhaps the years of ingesting massive amounts of Mescaline have finally caught up with her. Either way, in this new story teaser trailer from EA and Spicy Horse we find Lewis Carroll's creation under going some much needed therapy, but lets just say this session isn't going as well as it might have.

Alice: Madness Returns is due for release on 14th and 16th of June on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Duke Nukem - History of a Legend - Pt1

We often go shooting up the town, popping some caps in aliens asses and then hang out in strip joints afterwards, we might even rent a holiday home together next summer... but for the rest of you unprivileged mortals who don't know the great Duke'y then wrap you face orbs around this vid and learn some history in preparation for June 10th(Global) or 14th(USA) - That right! - I said 'Learn'. PES 2012 - Will it be an improvment??

So 2012 is coming and along with the possible end of the world scenario there will be the usual invasion of sporty games begging for our cash. Time to pick sides again - Pro Evo or Fifa? - the eternal question, eh?! Fifa always had the polish and licences that have eluded Pro Evo and with Fifa basically stealing Evo's great gameplay mechanics in recent years, it has really been a tough time for poor old Evo. Since about 2007 Evo has struggled to get back its glory but with little sucess, only the hard core supporters have been keeping the title afloat, at least up on till this year with Evo 2011, which was better but still not quite there... Below is a vid of the Evo creator 'Seabass' giving us a yarn on what improvements to expect in the coming game. Warning - Its a vid for hardcore footy game heads, to anyone else it will be just boring. You can follow PES 2012 on facebook here.

I really hope they do sort their shit out and make Evo 2012 a great game, we here at Reaper Towers have very fond memories of the series as far back as when it was know by the name 'International Superstar Soccer' or ISS. Yeah, I know... were old.

Modern Warfare 3 - First Trailer's released - Its... Green!

It coming!! That's right, we know by now that Modern Warfare 3 is a deffo, the only question is... will it be as good as MW2?? There are allot of foul mouthed twelve year old's foaming form their pie holes hoping that it will be! If COD Black Ops is any benchmark then the outlook is hopeful once, there are no more surprise court cases (its not impossible ya know, this title is smothered in soap opera like drama).
Although developed by two different divisions of Activision it is likely that they will be sharing trade secrets and Infinity Ward (or whats left of them) have a massive statement to make with this title, its make or break time for the developer, so I imagine they will be throwing everything they have at it... here's hoping anyway!

Check out the official first trailer's below, not allot to see but still, its nice to see something at this early stage, we will be shooting all over the world anyway. We will find out all on November 8th when the game is released and we are sure to see lots more bits and bobs at E3 this Summer. Rumours are running riot of what to expect, from battles in Brooklyn to having missions involving Seal Team 6 - the Osama killers. Kotaku have a nice piece on it here. Lets see how this one unravels... Either way, I recon Battelfield 3 will be shitting in its boots.

Brink; PS3 at Amazon UK

This one only made it onto the list this week as we like to bring you the best price on a newly released title. This is Bethesda’s latest offering that puts you on a floating city called the Ark, which is on the “brink” of civil war. It really seems to boil down to sounding like a cross between Haze, with a pinch of Bioshock and some Hippie bullshit you’d normally find in a Final Fantasy game. The initial reviews are mixed to say the least, so it might be worth letting this one hit the pre-owned shelves or bargain bin before you check it out.

Crysis 2; Xbox 360 at Gamestation
£22.99/$37.21/26.38 Euro

The original title is held in great affection by PC gamers as it really pushed the hardware to the limit giving us some stunning vistas and Crysis 2 does not scrimp in this area either. Although there has been some grumbling about the length and difficulty of the single player campaign, it is beautiful looking thing. An FPS for FPS fans that is better looking than a badger in a hat.

Deadly Premonitions; Xbox 360 at Amazon UK
£12.97/$21.00/14.88 Euro

This release from Rising Star Games split the gaming world into two camps and made sure this one became a cult classic. A survival horror that isn’t just another Silent Hill rip off, Deadly Premonitions has a engrossing storyline that blends action and homicide investigation beautifully, all of this is bolstered with some quirky additions such as maintaining personal grooming, a twenty four hour weather cycle and a selection of mini games. A blend of Twin Peaks with some elements of classic survival horror that I really enjoyed, but you will love it or hate it.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm; PC at Game
£17.99/$29.14/20.64 Euro

Most, if not all Warcraft players will have this expansion by now, but if you haven’t been to Azeroth for a while this is one hell of reason to reactivate your account. Deathwing has returned and left the land masses of the Eastern Kingdom and Kalimdor in somewhat of a mess, on the bright side however it has given Blizzard a chance to revamp the whole of these continents with a shed load on new quests and starting areas. The level cap has also been raised to 85, two new playable races have been added, new race and class combinations and plenty of new raids and instances for you to get your teeth into. Blizzard has out done itself with this expansion and with Blizzcon around the corner, there has never been a better time to come back to WoW.

Fallout New Vegas DLC - Honest Hearts trailer

Bethesda are one of the best developers out there for DLC, they gave great content support to Fallout 3 and did it all at reasonable prices (unlike some activision games - ehem!). This looks set to continue for Fallout NV. There are several different add-ons coming, with 'Dead Money' (which is currently available), being the first to hit and you can see in the vid below the trailer for one such DLC - 'Honest Hearts'. It boasts new weapons, terrain, perks and of course baddies.

Assassin's Creed Relevations - More Ezio... Desmond... and Altair!!

Ok, now this isn't to be confused with an Assassins Creed 3 game, cos its not one. Its the continuing story of Ezio. We will be kicking Templar ass in Constantinople and apparently we will also get to jump into the boots of the modern day Desmond and the ancient Altair at various stages of the game in 'Assassin's Creed Relevations'. Basically Ezio is on some sort of quest to understand his ancestors and break the Templar's hold in the region. There will also be multiplayer aspects to keep us happily backstabbing each other online, so lots to look forward too!

This will be the last chapter for the 'Assassins Creed 2' linage and will tie up the saga of Ezio, leaving room for a brand new character to come in the third installment. Any guesses when or where that will be? Perhaps it will be a modern day one... but its more likely to be a historic setting. Salem Witch trials perhaps? Who knows... It features some Horror movie Greats (and not so great) appearances, most notably George Romero, Mr Day/Dawn/Night and other less successful times of the Dead movies, Legend! But - Buffy?? Seriously?? Could they not have gotten Bruce Cambell or someone else, arg! At least theres no Twilight twats I guess. Anyway, the Escalation pack is looking seriously good and for me this seals the deal, I simply must get it now... grumble. I hate the price (1200msp) but at least it looks like were getting a lil more than usual for our buck with this 'Call of the Dead' feature. If you hate the living dead idea then this changes nothing for ya, its just an over priced bunch of maps... but I luv the walking dead, so I'll see ya all in Zombieville, with my Boomstick!!

The new Wii 2 is promising to have more power than the PS3 and Xbox 360, and be backwards compatible with current Wii titles.

The console aka Project Café will also have a new, tablet-shaped controller. With a 6-inch touch screen display, dual analog sticks, and has the ability to stream content directly from the console. And a Hi-Def 1080P output.

But wii will have to wait until E3 this year to see if Nintendo can live up to this mighty claim..

Why Bethesda, with all this new information you really are spoiling us. Yes that's right folks we have some new Rage based info for you, with a glimpse at some screenshots and gameplay footage from the single player campaign.

But first lets take a butchers at multiplayer;

"What we didn't want to do is just throw a couple of guys on foot and they're fighting and call it our online offering," said Rage Design Director Matt Hooper "That's not what we wanted to do. We wanted to make it uniquely Rage."

Glad to hear it, so what do we get? Rage will feature a special competitive combat rally mode which we have seen before in titles such as Twisted Metal, with players using mounted weapons to take out opponents as they race around the five (at least) available circuits. When not filling each other with lead from ramshackle vehicles players will be prompted into check-point based races. All pretty interesting, but what if you get your kicks from shooting teenage kids who scream "NOOOBBBCAKES!!" down your lugholes all battle, in the head? Fear not, The Legends of the Wastelands mode will allow you to do just that, with approximately eight different maps from the single player mode packed full of missions, weapons and gadgets.

The trailer below gives you an idea of what to expect in the single player experience and by all accounts it would seem to suggest that Rage will certainly be able to hold its own against the Smorgasbord of sequels being released this year.

Rage from id Software and Bethesda will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in September.

Dead Island

Set in The Royal Palms Resort in Papua New Guinea, Dead Island by Techland could be a breakthrough in the horror /action/ adventure gene.

Picture the scene you wake up with a massive hangover and find out there’s been a zombie outbreak, and not the walking home from a hard nights clubbing type of zombie but the proper flesh munching type. And what’s worse, this is only day two of your holiday!

This game does sound impressive with an XP based levelling system and skill tree that will let the player choose how to develop their deadhead smashing character, 4 player co-op(both local and on-line) ,weapon customization, RPG elements and of course hordes of zombies.

Seeing as this is based in a holiday resort your access to semi and fully automatic firearms and things that go boom is more than likely going to be limited, but the developer is promising a “spectacular system of dealing with combat damage: blunt weapons, crushing skulls, breaking bones and blades choping off limbs and decapitation.” Sounds good... Granted it does sound like a love child of Left4Dead and Dead Rising but the developers are promising us something special ,and seeing that it was originally meant to be released in 2008 let’s hope so.

I am currently going back to Oblivion at the moment to close all those big red portals and save the lands of Ababbadabbadooo or whatever it's called, so I shall be a hero and rich and everyone will love me... oh did I mention Im doing all this as a vampire, which is more of an STD than a way of life in the game, and I fully intend on draining the population like a bloated tick when I am king! What a great thing these games are, they totally take you away and submerge your big dumb brain into a land where anything is possible. Well now the next Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim, is coming on November 11th (2011) for more brain dunking. This time around its prettier, bigger, more varied and it has massive dragons in it, plus the king of open world games Bethesda have used all their great knowledge from the Fallout games that they produced in the recent past to add perks, better dual combat and even a level editor for modders. It simply cant go wrong, Id bet my crotch gauntlets on it!! Alice: Madness Returns - Now With 100% Extra Alice - Game to Ship with Original Title

In an interview today, creator of the cult classic, America McGee's Alice, has revealed that its follow up, Madness Returns, will include a DLC code to redeem the original title for free. As of June 2010 Alice had sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide in the ten years since its release on the PC and can now be experienced on the Xbox 360 and PS3 via this much welcomed DLC. Although not official this maybe an indication of how EA will use its online pass feature, perhaps enticing gamers to purchase older titles rather than waiting for them to hit the pre-owned shelves. There is also something for those amongst you who like playing "dress up" with your Avatars, with further DLC for Alice in the form of dresses with special powers. Alice: Madness Returns from EA is released on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Mac on June 14th in the USA and June 16th in Europe.

But the war is far from over, Anon promises in a new interview, and the worst is yet to come. Speaking with PlayStation LifeStyle over a secure chat channel, Anon member Takai said Sony was wise to hire Prolexic, but it won't protect the company from what the hackers have planned. Here’s something to tickle the old nostalgia glad, Hyperkin are launching a handheld ,fully functioning Super Nintendo which will play all those cartridges you been hording away in the attic for years.

The company best know in the US for its Megadrive (Genesis) and NES retro products have released some of the Supaboy’s specs, which include; it weighs around 318 grams (11.2 ounces) with a pretty decent 3.5 inch LCD screen and a rechargeable battery with approximately a 5 and a half hour life. The Supaboy also has an A/V stereo-out which will plug into any TV and even a port for your original SNES controller.

Its coming on the 3rd of May to Xbox, so less than a month to wait. Major Nelson let the monkey out of the bag today (check here for that). He also revealed that it is going to be the usual rip off price of 1,200msp - Told ya it would be that too, didn't I, eh! So I recon I'll just wait for a sale or something cos I felt like a cheep used whore after buying the 'First Strike' pack- and buying 2 map packs for Call of Duty costs nearly the same as buyin a new game, dirty, greedy Activision... Here we go again, another multi player map pack for Black Ops... the last one (First Strike) wasn't bad if a tad (allot) overpriced. The new second pack - 'Escalation' looks like it will have about four maps and a zombie mode level - Seize the Zoo - Take the Hotel - Secure the Convoy and Raid the Stockpile with the possible zombie one being - Survive Call of the Dead. Check this shit out... Coming soon to the XBL indie channel is a new game called - 'Avatar Legends' from developer 'Barker's Crest'. Guess who the star of the game is... no not some big blue naked freak, you are!! Well, your XBL Avatar that is. As you will see in the vid below you are put into an RPG environment where ya kick some mythical ass, meet NPC's and level up. Its no Dragons Age but looks like allot of potential fun. Its boasting to have a ten hour single player campaign with co-op for up to six players and a separate multi player portion (Check here for full details). Sounds great eh. Plus there is a level editor that will allow you to create your own version of hell and share it with the world... so get ready for more 'penis world' levels - its going to happen, you know it! All in all this is looking like a fab idea and a good use to put your lil avatar too instead of just dressing it up like a barbie icon. It also justifies that Bobba fett suit I bought awhile back... If its successful over on the indie channel the it should come to the masses on XBLA soon. Doubt there will be any Dragon Age style sexy bits though... awww.

Mass Effect 3 - First Official Details

Bioware have announced the first details of what we can expect to see in the third and final instalment in their Sci-Fi Action RPG series. According to the US magazine, Game Informer, Mass Effect 3 will pick up from the recently released DLC Arrival , which we won’t spoil for you here just in case you haven’t gotten around to it yet, what we can tell you however is that a number of our favourite squad mates will be returning (or at least if you haven’t gotten them killed) including Liara T'Soni, Kaidan Alenko and Ashley Williams, with hopes for more awkwardly animated sexual shenanigans, as well as Wrex, Garrus, Mordin and Legion although there is no confirmation if these old faces will be able to join your squad. There is also some bloke called James Sanders, leading to much speculation to whether he may be a relation of the heroine of the Mass Effect novels Kahlee Sanders, or perhaps the New England Patriots American Football player? OK, maybe not him. We are also very pleased to hear that Martin Sheen will be returning as the Illusive Man, who by all accounts is now trying to kill Shepard. In somewhat of a return to the original Mass Effect, weapon mods are making a comeback with interchangeable scopes, barrels, clips and alike, changing both the look and feel of your favourite alien dispatcher. RPG elements have also been expanded upon including a larger skill tree and powers which can be evolved several more times. Of course as expected, there are to be multiple ends as previously seen in the first two games of the series which are influenced by your choices as you progress. Some maybe disappointed to hear that there will be no Multiplayer for the final game but Bioware have said that it may appear in future spin-offs. Mass Effect 3 is due to be released Q4 2011 on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

CD Projekt Red have released some tantalizing new screenshots for you to cast your brain windows on. With a rumoured 16 different endings this one is shaping up to be an RPG epic. The Witcher 2 - Assassins of Kings is scheduled for release on the 17th of May 2011 on PC.

Here we go again, another multi player map pack for Black Ops... the last one (First Strike) wasn't bad if a tad (allot) overpriced. The new second pack - 'Escalation' looks like it will have about four maps and a zombie mode level - Seize the Zoo - Take the Hotel - Secure the Convoy and Raid the Stockpile with the possible zombie one being - Survive Call of the Dead. So that's a fairly big map pack but it would be nice if they supported some single player action too... or even some co-op type thing, arg!

GTA V in the works? Looks that way!!

Well now kiddies, we have L.A Noir coming from Rockstar and we know the spy game 'Agent' is on the cards, there's even a rumour of a Bully 2 being made but what we all really, really want to know is when the fuck is Grand Theft Auto 5 coming?!?! Well there have been a few interesting requests by Rockstar games for some odd domain names and copyright patents. For instance Take-Two and Rockstar have bought the domain names - CashForDeadDreams.com - SixFigureTemps.com - StopPayingYourMortgage.net - HammersteinFaust.com and LifeInvader.com - Could these be for some of the wacky in game sites and companies? Its a strong possibility... Add to this that take two have put out casting calls for a game set in the Los Angeles area (not L.A Noir) with the codename of 'Rush' and the plot is thickening. You can see the list of characters below and their descriptions which really look like a GTA styled bunch of fuckups, so I recon its safe to say that this will become more than a rumour quite soon. We'll keep ya posted if theres any more on this but for now just keep hopping heads off the bonnet in GTA4. I really want it to be true. Not that I'm in a Rush or anything... da-dum... aww forget it!

It looks very realistic and quite immersing, that said so did the new Medal of Honour at this stage... hopefully EA have learned a few lessons since then. It will have single player, co-op and of course multi player modes. As a US marine, single player will have you in different world locations such as Paris, Tehran and New York... so pack your aftershave. It's boasting up to 64 online players on the PC which is cool and is set to come out this Autumn. Now the only question left to ask is... What is Activision going to do? Hmm...

Condemned
Condemned takes place aboard Orbital Station Gamma, a massive space station high in orbit above the planet Reach. During the Battle of Reach, the station suffered terrible punishment at the hands of the Covenant but a few fortified sections remain intact, fully pressurized, and ready for combat. Condemned supports 6 – 12 players in a variety of action-packed game types, including Team Slayer, Team Objective and Free for All.

Highlands
Highlands takes place on the top-secret Military Wilderness Training Preserve on Reach. The Preserve is a large, wooded area where Spartan super-soldiers trained long before the war with the Covenant began. During the Battle of Reach, the Preserve was the site of key battles between the alien invaders and a group of Spartans who used their familiarity with these UNSC training grounds to significant tactical advantage…but not everyone who enters these woods makes it out alive. Highlands expands the fight with massive-scale engagements for 8 – 16 players in Big Team Battle, Team Slayer and Team Objective.

Unearthed
Unearthed takes the battle for Reach to a large Titanium mine and refinery located in the Viery civilian sector of the planet. This particular mine was built to take advantage of the exposed titanium inside a massive meteor crater. Gabe Newell is a king among gamers! For those that dont know who he is, he is head of Valve and the big kahoona of Half Life and all its spin offs, including Left 4 Dead, Portal and of course the Steam platform. He is also so wealthy that Forbs.com have done a special article on him which you can and should read here - Forbes.com

Gabe and Valve have always done their best to give fans what they want along with caring about the quality of their games and not just knocking em out like a horny monkey... or Activision. There is loads in the article, like the fact that Gabe had to get new eyes due to a disease, how Valve are more successful than Apple or Google when measured by the ratio of profit to employee. Also how most of the staff started from being home brew modders and of course the huge amounts of money the company is worth today. Personally I have a mega amount of respect for the guy and I hope he stays around for a long time to come. He is truly a gem in the gaming world and other developers could learn allot from his success!

If you have any interest in the future of gaming then this is well worth a look, if not then... don't bother your lazy ass, tut-tut. It is well worth a read though!

It features all the fav's, Hulk Hogan, Andre the fat man, the Ultimate Warrior and now for the first time in decades the Macho Man Randy Savage. He looks more like a biker Santa clause these day but he is still full of the funky lingo we know and love, check him out in the vid below. The concept of a gun controller to play FPS shooters is one of those great ideas that just never works in reality. It is not impossible to get it right as the SNES and arcade games of the past have proven, but they always feel a bit... gimmicky, and modern technology has not fixed this little issue for now. Below is a vid giving you a quick look at this gizmo in action, the 'CTA Digital's Assault Rifle Controller' and you can click here to go to a review on Kotaku... but let me save ya a trip and tell ya that its an overpriced piece on gimmicky SHIT! Just thought all you gadget junkies should be warned in case you get tempted to try it out - its pants! There really is nothing to replace the good old Joypad (or Mouse and keyboard), is there!? No point in trying to make a quick buck on us gamers with this kind of rubbish, so ya know where to stick that gun, eh Sony?

Ok, this shit is the bomb!Portal 2 will be cross compatible online between the PC and PS3, Yep! A PS3 owner will now be able to play and chat with a PC player online. Ain't that great?! But it gets better because if you get Portal 2 on the PS3 (Currently - April 21st, 2011) you will get the PC version free with it... yep, free! Ya hear that Microsoft?? It's all made possible through 'Steam' Valve's game market place and general game platform. Once ya reg up on steam you can slip between platforms to play the game as the steam cloud will hold all your saved progress and you can mix it up between PC and PS3 online play, fookin fab eh!

We have wanted this for a long time and despite the slight advantage that PC players will have by using a keyboard and mouse, it shall render a better experience for all gamers involved... now sort it out for Left 4 Dead please valve. As for Microsoft... stop being so frickin greedy and let some free stuff onto the xbox, like steam... Then perhaps we can get a good old three way going! Wouldn't that kick ass!!Hopefully a fire has been lit under the industry with this and other developers will take heed.

COD - Black Ops - Map Pack - First Strike - Feb 1st!

Here we go with the Activision rip off plan... four new Multi player maps and a zombie mode map all for the neat price of 1200msp... neat my ass!! That's twice the price of four Halo maps, WTF!! Slightly better than MW2's offerings last year I guess... but still, what extortion! Anyway, if you love COD enough then ya will deffo get these and I have to admit they do look pretty interesting, just have a look at the vid below. The maps will be out on the Xbox 360 on February 1st (2011). PC and PS3 should get it soon after but that date is yet unannounced, tut, tut to exclusives eh. Check below for the map details. Keep an eye on the COD Black Ops homesite here for any updates... Enjoy.

Kowloon - Basically the Hong Kong mission from the single player campaign. Remade with multiplayer in mind but with zip lines and lots of camping positions. Allot of falling to be done I recon!

Discovery - Time for some snow, its a research station but has a deep chasm dividing it with narrow points connecting them, real fortress type stuff. Oh, be careful though the bridges can be destroyed, excellent!

Berlin Wall - World War II makes another appearance in Black Ops with this map, it is East meets west with a turret riddles no mans land... lots of slaughter!

Stadium - A modern complex with lots of close quarter combat and lots of camping potential, get out the shotguns!

Ascension - the Zombie map... no details as of yet but we bet it will have, um, guns and zombies!?

ABC Warriors - The Game!! Metal Death!

Kinect - Your Face is the Controller...

In case you haven't heard, Xbox will be releasing 'Avatar Kinect' soon (see second video below). This will basically be a chat show environment where your avatar will simulate all your real life gestures and movements, including facial expressions and lip syncing. The vid below shows a basic overview of how this works and is worth a quick watch. The Kinect is turning out to be a very clever bit of kit but there is a serious lack of good games for it at present. As I've always said the potential is great and this bit of facial mimicking only adds to that but if there are no good games to support it then that's all it is, a clever bit of kit. Oi - Microsoft, start making some good games for this please!!

Here's some Toilet humour for ya... Have you ever been peeing into a urinal and thought 'this would make a great game'?? Then this ones for you ya crazy fruit cake! It would seem that Sega are interesting in putting games in the toilet... I'm not referring to some crappy titles of late, I mean it literally. 'Toylets' is the prototype pissing game that is currently being tested in Japan and involves a screen at eye level for the player and a illustrated pressure pad in the actual pot in order to be pissed upon. The strength and accuracy of the willy waterfall will control the action on the screen... genius eh! There are currently several mini-games available -

Mannekin Pis: Just measures your peeing power. Good for checking the old prostate I recon!
Graffiti Eraser: You can clear paint off a wall with pee, just like you do when drunk!
The Northern Wind, The Sun and Me: This has you lifting a girls skirt with the wind based on the power you pee at. This one could result in more than a pee I recon...
Battle! Milk From Nose: This one is a multiplayer, seriously. It makes milk stream from your characters nose and if you are more milkier than your opponent it will flush him off the screen... bizarre eh!

There is always a money side to these crazy ideas, between games some product adverts will appear. Ya can just imagine the type of products... Cant really see this working in the West, but those crazy Japs love this sort of thing and in fairness it is innovative. Maybe a Ghostbusters game could appear on this... don't cross the streams!!!

Mouse and Keyboard on your Console? Sounds unfair... but good!

Ask any PC gamer why they prefer the PC over the plug and play ease of a console and after a small rant involving terms such as 'WoW' and 'Hard Core' they will eventually admit that its down to one major difference... control. PC gamers hate joy pads for the most part and somewhat understandably so as they lack a certain... accuracy. There is nothing quite as accurate as the mouse and keyboard control system for games, especially when it comes to RTS and FPS multi player. Well up till now it has been a pain to replicate this on a console but we are another step closer to a affordable and practical device in the form of the 'XIM3'. This nifty device is said to be far cheaper than its predecessors ($200ish for older versions) when released and far more stable but currently only supports the Xbox 360, which I'm sure will change if there is the consumer demand for other machines (PS3). You can read all the tecky stuff over at the XIM3 site and you can check out a demo of how it works in the vid below, there are many more to see on the XIM3 site here. It looks nice and has a LED touchscreen display for easy use as seen in the picture below.

Personally I think this is great, Id deffo get it. This does bring up one or two issues though, firstly - does this not kill the whole plug and play side of console gaming? Why not just use a PC to begin with... and secondly - Is it all a bit unsporting to all the people using joy pads? Although mentioning Moder Warfare or Halo and the term 'unsporting' can be painted all over them already!

Well boys and girls, I hope you had a great Christmas and got to catch up on the mountain of backlogged games over the holiday while avoiding the homicide of the Christmas madness? We are all still feeling a bit full and over liquefied after it all but are keen to start reporting bits and bobs from the gaming world. Unfortunately, there is nothing of real interest to report, sweet FA in fact, how disappointing. Soon we will have some more tasty titles such as Dead Space 2, Bulletstorm ect. But not yet, currently its just 'Dead'. Keep an eye out for more to come though cos once things start movin and groovin we will be on its ass like Wacko Jacko on Bubbles... I mean that in a heterosexual way of course. Now, where did I leave those turkey legs... slurp.
